Audience and Institution Practice Essay.
In media marketing can be one of the most important aspects in film making and getting the film to the desired audience. Marketing in any project is the process of identifying, anticipating and satisfying the audiences wants and needs. The fact that marketing is used to attract audiences and customers, makes it one of the most important components of the media concept.
To start off, lets’ look at 2018’s American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics “The Black Panther” which was released February 16, 2018 and made approximately 1.344 billion USD as of May 22, 2018. In this aspect of media which is film it is important to look at how the product was distributed and along with many other strategies cross-promotion was used to help market the film. The first example of cross-promotion used by the film is when the first showing of the movie's trailer was made during a NBA’s finals game. According to text “Between 9 p.m. Eastern and midnight on Friday, the movie stirred up 109,000 tweets with the hashtag #BlackPanther, according to an analysis performed for CNBC by marketing technology firm Amobee. What’s even more impressive is the fan reaction in those tweets: 86 percent were positive” (Dichristopher, Tom, CNBC). Another strategy used to help market the film was Media distribution, more importantly the music aspect of media. The soundtrack from the film gave it a humongous boost in marketing, the album track for the film even won a Grammy for best score, an American Music Award for favorite soundtrack, and a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation. With the use of these strategies it’s no wonder the film was such a huge hit in the box office.
In addition to that, the film used another method of marketing, which was the strategy of Merchandising. By making and distributing items such as clothing apparel to toys and coffee mugs the film reached more individuals, which helped increase the excitement and interest for the film that was generated among the public. According to the source “Jefferies analyst Stephanie Wissink raised her estimates for Hasbro's 2018 "Black Panther" merchandise sales from $60 million to as much as $100 million because retailers are "aggressively chasing inventory” (Berr, Johnathan, CBS News). Secondly another strategy used by the film was the release strategy. The film used this strategy by executing a red-carpet premiere on January 29, 2018 with the film itself premiering in commercial theaters in the US on February 16, 2018. As stated in the source “They walked the purple carpet swaddled in bold colors, headdresses, stoles, crowns and plenty of swagger” (Givhan, Robin, 2018, The Washington Post). By having this red-carpet release, it promoted the film and increased the marketing ultimately helped the film when it opened globally in February 2018 and made around $361 million in its first weekend alone.
In conclusion, Marketing advocates a huge importance in the media of film. By looking at examples like the 2018 mega block buster hit Marvels own Black Panther that used many forms of marketing to help advertise the film. By doing so the film made over 900 million dollars and majority of the profits came from marketing.

Extract Practice 24
In the first scene of the extract the authors start be conveying his ideas through a strong dialogue between the two main characters. The dialogue in this scene is between the two characters where the male character screams the female shows the tone in the male character voice that suggests that he is angry and upset but the female character remains calm showing that he isn't getting anywhere with the situation being upset. Bringing this much intensity in the first couple seconds gives the audience the idea that the women being integrated has a part to play in something greater. Along with the dialogue in the first scene playing a role in the overall theme of the extract, the lighting plays a part too. In the scene as soon as the male walks into the room the room is dark and remains dark all through the scenes. The low lighting emits the dark feeling that the male character is feeling. It sets the ominous tone for the scene which builds up emotion for the audience. This lighting helps build up dramatic tension for the audience keeping them on their feet wondering what will come next.
Secondly, in the end and start of the next scene of the extract the author continues to convey his ideas using the Mis en scene of props. In this scene the table used as a prop that the male character threw shows emotions that are similar to what the dialogue does. the dialogue and the props go hand in hand, the physical throwing of the table shows his anger and her not reacting to it is showing the effect of his actions. nothing. The scene shows the male making efforts to try and achieve justice for the actions the female has done but they ultimately get him nowhere. In addition to using props to help convey the authors ideas he uses the effect of zoom in the next scene. When the cameraman zooms in the scene where the male has the female in a chokehold, he is showing the up close the emotions on the character’s face. It shows the aggravation the character is feeling and the nonchalant attitude of the female character. In a way it emphasizes the emotions in the scene. By showing these emotions it shows the audience how serious the author intended on this scene being to help convey his theme and meaning.
The authors vison or meaning behind this extract is to show that pent up anger will not bring a person any closer to the solution while also trying to convey his theme of justice. The author does this by providing multiple examples of C.A.M and various amounts of sound and editing effects.

Filming Blog: First real day of filming
Today I filmed the first couple scenes of my two minute film and it was a success. The filming process was smooth and only took about three and half hours. Today I was the actor in the film and to be honest I was kind of nervous but I made it work. To help me out I remembered some acting tips a friend of mine taught me. Even though I've acted before I'm a shy actor but that's common in males.Yes in fact some of the best male actors are extremely shy. Women actors tend to have vivacious personalities though. With acting what you need is talent. Someone without the born talent of being an actor is not going to be able to be an actor although classes help a lot. One of my group members in my opinion has a natural gift in acting. As for natural talent, it certainly helps to be born with the ability to perform. But acting is also something that can be learned and mastered through lots of practice. Like any skill, it can be taught. With passion and perseverance, you can be a great actor…even if it doesn't come naturally. In all today's experience was a good one and really fun. I really got to see if I could really act in different settings and with different people. I for one can't wait to film the rest of the short film. I believe there is a certain way to make a good or even great film. A good script as well as good directing, acting, sound design, cinematography, musical score, casting, costumes, visual effects make a movie successful. Each new element you add to the movie can either detract of enhance that vision..

Planning Blog: Location, Participant, Health, and Schedule
In this blog I will be talking about the Location, Participants, Health, and Schedule in my most recent project. The location is one of the many important aspects of filming, just as finding the right actors to portray a role, and just as important as the choice of music used in the film. A location is a significant visual enhancement for a movie total causative effects. The actors, location, and cinematography transcends into the emotive feedback experienced while watching what transpires on the big screen. The Participants in the film play a important role as well because without them there would be no film. Health and Safety; Professional film crews take health and safety issues very seriously. The line of responsibility runs from the Producer to the Production Manager and 1st Assistant Director and finally on to all crew members who have a duty of care which is recognized by law. Scheduling will help you to shoot the scenes in accordance to the location and make the production a hassle free process. You should have a backup plan because things might not go as per your convenience. It is important that you create a contingency plan, even if it is never used.

Planning Blog:Sound and Dialogue Script
A dialogue is a literary technique in which writers employ two or more characters to be engaged in conversation with one another. In literature, it is a conversational passage, or a spoken or written exchange of conversation in a group. It can also be between two persons directed towards a particular subject. In this blog I will be showing the sound and dialogue of my script. In my next project I will be doing a short two minute film. My group will be doing a Sci Fi film which will be called De-simulated. When it comes to dialogue in a script, every word is selected for a reason, because they want to conceal something, find something out, kiss them, hurt them and so on. The trick, then, is in making script dialogue feel like real life, but with every single conversation earning its place in the scrip. In this project the dialogue and sound will play one of the most important parts. As seen in the power point some of the dialogue is between a customer.
Planning Blog:Shooting Script
In film making and video production, a shot is a series of frames that runs for an uninterrupted period of time. Film shots are an essential aspect of a movie where angles, transitions and cuts are used to further express emotion, ideas and movement. The angle of a shot can dramatically affect how we perceive the character. The directors in a film choose to use several different angles. The angle of a camera shot is really important for shaping the meaning of the film. There are plenty of angles to film to get your point across. In my project some of the shots I will be using includes Close up sots, Medium close up, Long shot, Wide shot, and others. Some of the angles I will be using are High angle, Low angle, Action match, Eye line match, and some others. Camera shots are an essential aspect of film making and video productions, because by combining different types of shots, angles and camera movements, the filmmakers are able to emphasize specific emotions, ideas and movement for each scene

Genre Research: Action vs.Sci Fi
A genre that my group looked at is the Action genre. Action genre is a film genre in which the protagonist or protagonists are thrust into a series of events that typically include violence, extended fighting, physical feats, and frantic chases. Some blockbuster films that fall into this genre includes Avengers End Game, War for the Planet of the Apes, Dead pool 2, Jurassic World, Transformers: The Last Knight, and many more. The Action genre can deal with many different types of films like protagonist vs. antagonist or Action adventure, comedy, crime, drama, horror and thriller. To understand the genre more you could look at the genre's convection's. Camera angles normally found in the action genre are High angles, Low angles, Eye level, and Over the shoulder angles. Camera shots found in the genre are Close up shots, Long shots, Medium shot, Two shots, Three shots, Wide shots, and Point of- view shots. Camera moments in the genre include are Pans or Tilts, and Zooms. These conventions are called the CAMS of media and this genre and are used in all types of media. In addition to those conventions here are the CLAMPS of this genre. The typical costumes in the action genre are super hero costumes, spy costumes, and many others. Lighting commonly found in this genre is Hard film lighting, Basic 3-point-lighting, Motivated lighting, and Natural film lighting. Types of acting found in this genre includes Classical acting, Method acting, and many others. Lastly the props found in this genre include Swords, Jet packs, Guns, High tech gear, and many more. Some elements in this genre includes stunts, chases, fights, battles, and races. Some common editing in this genre include Cutaways, Crossing Cutting Fade in/Fade out, and many more. Examples of comman sounds found in this genre are gunfire, explosions and shouting. Some things I like about the action genre are it’s mindless escapism. You don’t need to think about action movies much, you can just sit back, munch popcorn and watching it all unfold. Everyone needs that from time to time. It helps that action, unlike comedy, isn’t really subjective.Things I do not really enjoy about the genre is nothing really action is a really popular genre.
Another genre my group looked at is the Sci Fi genre.Science fiction is a genre of speculative fiction that typically deals with imaginative and futuristic concepts such as advanced science and technology, space exploration, time travel, parallel universes, and extraterrestrial life. Some major films that are in this genre include The Star Was series, Interstellar, Inception, The Martian, and many more. To get a better understanding of the genre you would need to look the conventions of the genre. Camera angles normally found in the Sci Fi genre are High angles, Low angles, Eye level, and Over the shoulder angles. The elements that are in this genre include Interplanetary warfare, Parallel universes, Fictional worlds, Time travel, and Space travel and Exploration. Props used in this genre include Light sabers, Star ships, Alien ships, and many others. Some comman editing found in this genre includes Fade in/out, Cross cutting, Eyeline Match, and many others. I enjoy the Sci Fi Genre because it show the audience a new aspect on the world even though it's mot real it makes us feel as such. Things I do not like about the genre is that there are not as many good Sci Fi films as other genre's.
Genre Research (Starter Up)
This power point project was on the genre Epic. In the project me and my fellow group members examined and analyzed the genre. Looking back at first semester, my group and I completed a genre project. For this project, we were assigned a specific film genre and instructed to conduct heavy research on it. Being given the "epic" genre, we researched many different aspects of the genre. We researched the common camera angles, movements, and shots. We also researched the types of lighting found in scenes from different epic films, such as natural and dark lighting. Moreover, in our research we found that common elements of epic movies include heroic figures and figures of royalty, vast and extravagant settings, lavish costumes, and specific time periods and eras. The research also gave us insight on the typical sound effects and music in epic films, such as triumphant music and expansive music scores. Three examples of epic films are Les Miserables, Avatar, and The Hobbit. Finally, after this heavy research of the genre we came to conclusion of what elements are appealing and not appealing in epic films. The extravagant settings and time periods in the movies are very appealing, while the makeup of the characters is not so much.

The final task pt. 2
Having our three total movie pitches, my group members and I had to begin the process of choosing our final pitch. We narrowed our pick down to our two favorite pitches out of the three. Moreover, we eliminated our least favorite out of the three.
Eliminating our third pitch, we kept our first and second pitches. As we read them all out in respect to our project, we concluded that there are a few good reasons why pitch number three should have been eliminated the way it was. While it indeed was a good storyline, it was definitely the least interesting and creative out of the three. It had potential, should all of the other details have been added, but all in all it was a basic idea. Many coming-of-age movies have had similar storylines. It just was not wow enough.
After eliminating, we were left to choose between our first and second pitches. We all agree that pitch number one was very interesting. There are a few, but not many films about simulations. So, we thought it may be interesting to bring the idea to life with the opening scene. Our first pitch is good because it allows for a very interesting development of the plot. Viewers would be on their toes the entire film waiting to see what happens next. For our project, this page would be good because we could have a very effective opening scene. We would be able to introduce the problem, leaving the viewers wanting to watch the entirety of the film by the end of the two minutes. There are people our group have in mind to play some of the rules in the video.
With these analyzations of our main pitch, we came to a conclusion. The final pitch we chose for our project is our first pitch. From the beginning, that was mine in my group members favorite pitch idea. The idea of portraying an individual stuck in a simulation and having to find them self out somehow, seems so unique and interesting to us. We believe it will make for a very appealing opening scene for our project. It will leave any viewer wanting to watch what happens for the remainder of the film.
The final task ( REDO)
In my last to projects I've used the knowledge gained from this course to help my products. Media can be defined as the main means of mass communication broadcasting, publishing, and the Internet regarded collectively. We plan on having different schedules for the different stages of the filming process. The first on our schedule is developing our story and getting through the pre-production process. During the pre-production process, we will formulate our script, create our storyboard, and secure our actors and locations. Next on our schedule is to film and record all things needed in the commercial. This will include the footage and voice overs. After this we will edit all footage, recordings, and special effects. During this part of the schedule we will review all footage, and should there be anything we need to reshoot, we will do so.
A Pitch can he defined as a way to describe an idea or what the film your pitching has to offer. Pitch #1: Simulation- Boy wakes up and feels out of place and starts to question his reality. After realizing he's in a simulation he works to find his way out. Pitch #2: Stock home syndrome- Girl held captive falls in love with her kidnaper. She knows it's not right, but will she choose love or freedom? Pitch #3: Last day of Cryschool: Friend group of five finally graduate high school but whats next? Where will their paths take them will the remain friends?
